“If we look back only 10 years, the cost of solar energy was too high, and landowners across the Middle East did not believe in the vision of creating a world-leading solar ecosystem as other fuels such as oil and gas were in abundance. Things have changed much faster than anyone could have imagined, with the Middle East now poised to truly contribute to global energy security through the alternation of existing assets to renewable assets.

Ahmed S Nada, President of Middle East Solar Industry Association MESIA
Keynote at Intersolar Middle East Conference 2023

The transition to a greener planet powered by renewable energy is now truly underway. The Middle East starts to turn green and solar as well as energy storage solutions are gaining strong momentum. Falling technology costs and stronger government policies, accelerated by the 2015 Paris Climate Accord, have resulted in renewable energy overtaking conventional fossil fuel as the power generation source of choice..

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is playing a key role in driving down the cost of renewables, with the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt all setting world record tariffs for clean energy projects since 2015. MENA countries have launched some of the most ambitious renewable energy programmes in the world. Saudi Arabia alone is planning to develop 58.7GW of renewables by 2030, Morocco targeting 52 per cent of its energy to come from clean energy in this period and Egypt aiming for 42 per cent clean energy by 2035.

Intersolar, ees (electrical energy storage) and Middle East Energy joining forces

The three leading energy exhibitions are joining hands to co-deliver an outstanding renewables and energy storage event at Dubai’s World Trade Center in April 2024. With an expanded exhibition section dedicated to solar and energy storage technologies, Intersolar and ees will be part of Middle East Energy 2024 and will complement Middle East Energy’s traditional product sectors with a significant growing number of companies from these industries. Intersolar and ees Middle East is the most effective trade focused platform to connect the global solar and energy storage community with regional decision-makers in MENA.
